Best route to take from Merck@Rahway to Colonial Oaks Village@East Brunswick
I work at Merck's Rahway site, and recently bought a townhouse at the Colonial Oaks Village in East Brunswick. The commute has been absolutely a nightmare! Takes me 40-45 minutes to get home from work.
I am wondering what would be a good route to take to at least partially avoid the heavy traffic from Rahway to East Brunswick. I am currently taking Route 1/9 and then Ryder's lane. Both Rt1 and Ryders lane are like parking lots in the late afternoon....
Inputs are highly appreciated!

I recommend the parkway to the turnpike south then get off at exit 9 and go on route 18.

The trnpke recomendation is a best bet but you might also try 9/35 over the big bridge, stay to the right as if getting on the prkway and continue on Washington Ave? through south river to rt 18.
Or Take 9/35 to main st/ rt 514 in woodbridge. make a right, passes middlesex co college and it dumps you off at rt 1 before the morris goodkind bridge and then onto the jammed Ryders lane.
no flexible hours at merck?

Thanks for all of your inputs! I just found out that if I leave home at 8 and leave work at 4, that will save me 15 minutes each way! I think I will do that from now on.
