no, I hadn't! i had heard there was talk at the archdiocese level about consolidation, but didn't know when official word was going to come down.

it's sad, even though I didn't go to any of them! lol when i lived there, there were 7 Catholic grammar schools, my brother went to one which closed awhile ago. it seems to be the right thing to do from a cost standpoint (and I think they picked the right location for the new school), but sad at the same time, KWIM?

Yes, they just closed the high school in JC that was attached to my grammar school..St Al's

i didn't know that either!!!! when i was in 8th grade, i had a choice of 3 high schools: holy family (bayonne), st. doms, and st. als. i chose the first b/c is was the closest, lol. sad! one of my best friends teaches at st. doms - i'll have to ask her how that school is doing.

not St Al's Academy but the other St Al's on Westside...

oops - forgot there were 2 of them! i was only allowed to go to the "all girls" one - god forbid daddy's girl go to school with *gasp*..boys!

So glad its only a school issue. I think it is going to be common to see
private schools consolidate..........
