Herald News: Poverty figures growing in NJ - NorthJersey.com

Why is this happening in our state? Other than the terrible economy? Is there anything that can be done about this?

It's a nationwide gap which is growing between the poor and the well-to-do. Outside of the trades and the minimum-wage service sector, there isn't much out there for those without higher education, and even college grads are having a rough time of it outside of specific sectors, like nursing and engineering.

Correct Natural...I agree it is a nation-wide trend and problem. However, is the state of NJ doing anything differently? Are our poverty rates, higher or lower than other states? How is NJ different than the rest of the country?
