I know its been discussed in the past, but can someone provide an update regarding how long it actually takes to drive to Harrison, park, and take the path to 33rd?

Also please describe the traffic, parking, and costs? How is the Harrison construction going to benefit the commute?

Thanks

Traffic in and out of Harrison is going to become a nightmare over the next 5 years with all the construction going on , its already a pain during rush hr. So if you can find a Bus to Newark and then pick up the PATH , that would save you alot of headaches from being stuck in Traffic.

I wouldn't suggest a bus to Newark. The traffic to Harrison varies widely by time of day; after 9am it isn't so bad, but you might have to park on the roof.

If you can get to Orange Station for the 6:56am train you can take NJ Transit, there's usually daily spots available at that time. (There's also the super-secret 7:58, switching at Brick Church for the 8:09; I don't know if there are spots available then)

Instead of driving maybe you want to consider taking the bus (Coach USA) which takes you to the bus depot at 42nd St. They have a fairly frequent schedule passing through different sections of Livingston. I would avoid driving on 280 during peak hours if at all possible.

Yeah, the Coach #77 is a good option. They go on 280 also, but they hire the most aggressive drivers they can find, who stay over on the left (1st ave exit) and move right to cut everyone off at the last minute. If you don't get out of the way... well, they're driving a bus, you do the math.

Our r/e broker said it was a 15 drive from Livingston to Harrison, maybe she meant on a Sunday morning?

On a Sunday morning if you do 75-80 mph the whole way. It's at least 20, even in those conditions.

I live in West Orange near the Livingston border and take 280 to Newark, one exit before the Harrison exit, every weekday. On good days it takes half an hour (including some driving through Newark), on not-so-good days it's 45 minutes. When I worked near Broad Street Station, which was a slightly shorter trip, I could make it door-to-door in about 15 minutes if traffic was light (I drive fast when I can), but since switching jobs and having to get to Penn Station, my best time in the morning has been 23 minutes.

It's not a horrible drive when there are no complications, but it's definitely not 15 minutes.

You can also drive a little north east to montclair where parking is available on Boonton Line that will take you to Penn Station in 40 mins or so.
Or you can drive to Orange and take NJT train from there.
