we just moved here from nc and are temporarily living in spring lake. we are looking for houses in the lincroft / red bank area. i have 3 young children and was wondering how red bank would be for raising the little ones. when i drove through red bank it seems like there are some really nice streets and then some others that aren't so nice.

I'd say Lincroft, or really any section of Middletown, would be your best bet. Like you said, Red Bank varies wildly from street to street--some incredibly gorgeous areas and others less desirable. Middletown schools are better as well. My daughter goes to Honey Child music in Red Bank and absolutely loves it--if your kids are under 5, check it out. Easily the best program she's done.

I won' bore you with thw nitty gritty, and I'll keep it real simple,
red bank= bad, lincroft=good

Red Bank is ok, if you don't have children in the schools. There are also some rough steets. Lincroft is very nice, and home of Brookdale Community College. Either buY there or Middletown.

Lincroft IS Middletown, Diane. Downtown Red Bank is very trendy as you know, but living there is another issue. There is a Mexican muster zone near the train station, as well as various other undesireable area. It still holds a lot of appeal for singles or childless couples, but for raising children you would love Middletown. I think we have 30+ parks, along with a great school system. My kids went to both Catholic and public schools. Lincroft is one of the nicer areas of Middletown, but when I was looking a few years back, there was nothing under $600k. So I stayed where I am at, in the New Monmouth area. Good Luck in your search.

NJTina.. said it correctly, Lincroft is part of Middletown, pays Middletown taxes... Lincroft has beautiful homes and the schools in Middletown are great.. Depending on what price range homes you are looking for? Middletown has a few sections from NorthMiddletown to South. Middletown is very family oriented.

Redbank like some posted has a nice area it's more of a town where you can walk around. Great shopping, resteraunts etc.. It all depends on what your looking for..
