Also Vauxhall Rd pass 78 thats shaky all the way to 78 is ok. I know people that live in that area and bedises traffic its safe, clean. But pass the 78 it changes, its not really dangerous and very bad but it just not at good, just like tha saying (other side of the tracks) not as good as the rest.

Hi all - i saw someone mentioned Hickory Manor in Union in this thread..I really like the layout of those townhouses and they're in our budget. Can anyone tell me if they've heard anything bad or good about them and/or the area of Union?

Northern Union county would be ideal for us between our commute and where family is located...ideally I would LOVE to move to Cranford but it's a little pricey.

Anything about Hickory Manor or the area would be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance!

I am looking to buy in Union at Hickory Manor. I am a little concerned by some code words in the threads about Union. Is it a racist community? Should I assume that people consider the Irvington border a negitive?

My brother used to own a house there and he enjoyed living there. As far as the poster who told you to avoid the town because it borders Irvington, pay no attention. I lived in a town that bordered Irvington and it was delightful.

I live there and own 2 houses one on the border or Maplewood closer to Irvington and other on border of springfield and been a resident since 1992 and went to schools and loved it and still do. Right now i am a real estate salesman so i know all the parts and sections of town like back of my hand and its not a town to avoid even on borders of Irvington. Maybe thats the section that is not desirable as the other sections but its not ghetto, its clean, and nothing close to dangerous. Right now i am selling a lot of houses in Union to Portugese and Polish people and they all love it.

Union is a nice town. I am Portuguese, though I don't live there my parents do. They live by Chestnut St., I went to school at Kean and I think it's a nice town. It's not Cranford like was mentioned but very nice and close to other towns like Cranford, Westfield for small town activities. Pricey for one person but on 2 incomes, it's nice and affordable.

Just like MMteacher mentioned it is a very nice town, that cant be compared to Westfield or Cranford. Its pretty safe and dont know about streets like somebody mentioned here but township is doing a lot of redo streets and they did a lot of main streets and side streets in last two years.
