I think the entire notion of this thread is comical, to say the least. Folks, there are snobby people everywhere. I happen to live in one of the metropolitan areas of PA with the lowest per capita income, yet I bump into some people here from time to time also with their noses stuck up in the air so far you'd swear they were trying to smell heaven! At work I'd cringe whenever I saw a customer approaching me with stelletos, a Prada hand bag, designer sunglasses (inside the building) because I knew they were about to ask me a question and were going to look down upon me for being a lowly retail grunt and not living up to their "fashionable" standards for wearing clothing from Abercrombie & Fitch instead of Armani Exchange.
I've found some rude jerks from NJ. I've found some very nice, pleasant people from NJ. I've found some stuck-up snobs from Scranton. I've found some down-to-earth hipsters from Scranton. I'm sure there are even "culture yuppies" living in Newark of all places as well. You can't define an entire community, region, county, or state based upon the actions of a few of its residents.
Every County in Nj has it's snobby towns. Where I grew up it was Short Hills, South Orange,Millburn. Now it's Rumson, Holmdel, Fair Haven, Marlboro. Se la vie! Always going to be someone that thinks they are better and put on heirs no matter where you live.

Funny how everything cycles. I remember when Marlboro was considered the sticks and Fair Haven was just well -Fair Haven. It was not that many years ago either or I am getting old. I like the old Marlboro better- when it was known as just "crazy" not snooty. LOL
I'll jump in and say Far Hills and Mendham. Nice to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. I couldn't afford to anyway...but our friends could. I know people who live in both places. The Far Hills people were "new money" and were treated really badly, they took their millions and went to Spring Lake, are very happy there. The Mendham people became jerks (sorry to say) and fit right in. I know Iam generalizing but that is what I know about those towns.
