As far as shootings they are less of an occurrence in East Orange. I live around the Brick Church area and police presence is very obvious. You can tell by the amount of driver police pull overs, they are high in East Orange it's like they have to meet a ticket / sitation quotas. However, when you call about a disturbance they are out to lunch. If I could move away from this town I won't look back!
Yes, the EOPD is crazy when it comes to traffic violations. A friend of mine was once passing through town and pulled over so that he could adjust his GPS. A cop pulled up behind him and gave him a ticket because his front wheel was up on the curb. How ridiculous.
If the jobs really that good why not move out of philly and close to east orange. That would be an impossible commute. As far as east orange is concerned, some of its a crime ridden ghetto especially bordering Newark and have all the pain in the ass problems associated with that pretty much like north philly. Some of east orange close to monclair isnt that bad but the cops might give you a hard time since in those areas especially with pa plates theyll think your coping dope 9/10 times.
THey really need to make it easier to commute to north jersey from philyl with nj transit trains. Right now, you have to travel on the NEC then change at newark. THey need to connect hte West trenton station to bridgewater. THis would give a lot more options.

NJ Transit ends in Trenton. So to get to Philly you need to transfer to the SEPTA in Trenton.
