I didn't notice any recommendations for the Yardville/Crosswicks/Groveville areas. Beautiful area on the way to Monmouth County.

Yardville is nice, Crosswicks is VERY nice. Groveville, IMO, is the weirdest place possible. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's like someone picked up a tiny country neighborhood from southern Virginia and plopped it into lower Mercer county. I think it's adorable but very out of place. It's also quite safe, definitely a place to consider.

Yardville is very nice. But I really recommend they go to PA - why deal with the higher property taxes and auto insurance of NJ? - PA is a much better value.
I hear Council Rock school system is good - just over the border.

Funny you mentioned the Cracker Factory renovation on Center St. I saw it in the paper and went down to take a look. Well Latin Kings sell Heroin on next block and gangs control the whole hood. Wait till those "yuppies" catch a load of that action. I am living here less than 2 years and bought here only because my grandchildren all live in Jersey and if I want to survive on my pension I had no choice but to sell and move to a cheaper part of Jersey. 5 years and we will be gone. Taxes are insane. Corruption runs rampant. Illegals are welcomed with open arms. (While the taxpayers shoulder the burden}. Illegals use hospital emergency rooms as family medical care. Meanwhile 50% of your hospital bill goes to pay for those who don't. Our schools are overloaded and we aren't even allowed to ask them to prove they are here legally and entitled to go to school. Try to send your kid without his shots. See what they ask you to prove.60% of school budget goes to 20% of the students in so called "Abbott" districts.Improvement? Nary an iota. Oh by the way. Those 20% of the students; their parents don't even shoulder 10% of the tax bill. NOBODY ,NOBODY, ever talks about that. Illegals depress wages, inflate rents, send most of their money back to Mexico,(about 15 Billion a year by most accounts), refuse to learn English.Demand schooling for their kids in Spanish, and finally(Whew aren't you glad?), guess where 85-90% of the drugs that enter the country come across the border with all those illegals. MEXICO. All this politically correct B.S. with the thought police just daring people to exercise their rights under the Constitution to express a different point of view. You are now Un-American. A gasp, LIBERAL, even . A traitor, ready to give aid and comfort to the enemy. Well folks I have seen the enemy and he lives in your hood.Is taking your kids jobs, education, language, and just wants to be allowed to drive.LMAO. So lets just make the about 12-15 million illegals citizens. Accept another 6-8 million family members. Continue to drive down wages and send the real jobs to foriegn countries. And we can do it all over again just like we did 20 years ago. We are now a third world country and don't even know it. Pray for our kids because the only one who can help them is GOD. (OPPS ANOTHER NO NO.).
Keep your powder dry and your ear to the ground. Remember, don't let the neo-cons learn the pass word.
Just one more word. Isn't anybody worried about the more than 150,000 mercenary soldiers we have hired for the war in Iraq. They are an Army of radical rights armed to the teeth and honed to a razors edge in the insane thing we call the "war on terrorism". Little scary huh? Good thing even liberal Americans are gun nuts too. Opps, wasn't supposed to let that cat out of the bag.
Yes!! Another NJ'ian who gets it.

I have been reading these message boards, is there no police visibility? Is there anywhere the police "hang out" after hours? Is it really that bad?

LOL Groveville is weird!

FYI - Crosswicks is a part of Chesterfield and Yardville is a part of Hamilton

I live in a nice section of Trenton! I feel just as safe here as I did in Hopewell/Princeton. But for raising a family - no. They all end up going to the same crappy schools!

Look at Roosevelt NJ, just outside of Hightstown/East Windsor and 25 minutes from Trenton. Small town, bucolic setting in the woods with great elementary school, lower home prices, almost crime free.
