Turtleback Zoo in West Orange is nice and small. Good size for a little one and I hear the Cape May Zoo is good. I'm trying to plan a trip there with my 3 year old.

I just took my kids to Riamede Farm in Chester. The 4 year old loved it. The 18 month old had a good time too though. They have apple picking, hay rides, pumpkin picking, etc... Chester is also a beautiful town to walk around as well.

It is a great time to visit Cape May Zoo as it is decorated for Halloween and as always is free admission. Also, not sure about the age but 'Storybook Land' in Egg harbor , even better at Christmas time. And I believe the Aquarium in Camden is newly renovated and nicer. Also, if its not too far 'Sesame place' has Halloween Spooktacular event until end of Oct. ,great for small children and probably less crowded now too

I just got back from Johnson's Farm. They have a Corn Maze and pumpking picking (apples are done for the season). They have a live band, Farm animals that you can feed (unfortunately not a petting zoo). They also have a large playground. It was a really nice afternoon although I thought a little pricey. I think I bought 5 tickets for $14. One ticket per person for the hayride. 1 Ticket per person for the petting zoo. 2 Tickets per child for the playground but adults are free. They also had a moon bouncer for the kids which was 1 ticket. Pumpkins were $.69 per pound. Still, it was a nice afternoon.

Also went to Popcorn Zoo 2 weeks ago. It was a really nice zoo. Small but great! My 3 year old loved it and is still talking about the bears and Camel and lions and tigers ... you get the idea. It only takes an hour or two to walk the whole park but you can feed most of the animals.
