Hi -- I just started collecting unemployment due to company closure. I got approved for unemployment and already received a check. "Partial" benefits are $733, Whole benefits are $611. I worked last week for a small company, who had me fill out a w-9 (but I work for him, not myself) I received $120 the first week, and $105 the second. When I certified yesterday online, I filled that information under the section on my unemployment claim that called for you to report part time earnings, which is what I was told to do since I work for the company. It came up that they would have to review my claim. When I checked today I see that they "pended" my claim, and instructed me to call a claims examiner.

Anyone ever have this happen and if so, how long did they hold your check? I wasn't trying to do anything illegal, I was told you could work a few hours extra without being penalized! I really need this UEP check, as it's the check that would cover rent. Please advise!

They just need to verify the hours and amount with the employer. I would recommend you get on the phone first thing in the morning to speak with an examiner.

Yep, will be on the phone at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow! If they tried to call him, he was on a business trip to the midwest till today. The guy travels a lot, and the office is pretty much unattended when he's not there b/c most people work remotely. So maybe I can give the examiner his cell phone # as a backup so we can get it settled quickly, if not, we will be in the office again on Thursday. Thanks for the intelligent answer!

cattdogg, did you find anything out? I am receiving u/e benefits, but I am working p/t, so it's partial benefits. I haven't had a problem yet.
