I'm so confused as to why anyone would think Monmouth County is part of South Jersey? Geographically, it's clearly either central or north (if you're just splitting north vs. south) and it is definitely part of the NY area (sports teams, TV, newspapers, etc..). Even some of northern Ocean County is considered the NY area.

In my opinion, I-195 makes the perfect dividing line. Maybe even further south toward the coast (Tom's River?). I'm from right around this area and this is where you definitely see the Philly associations change to NYC.

Maybe people from Bergen, Essex, etc.. would disagree, but I don't know a single person from Monmouth county that thinks they live in South Jersey!

If your neighbors are mostly into Philadelphia sports teams...you are that half, if your neighbors are mostly into New York sports teams, you are the northern half.
