I have been searching the internet for help and stumbled on this forum i have was granted unemployment back in March since then i have run the course of the 26 weeks of claims. I recently got a letter saying my former employer appealed this and the appeal is now being set for a hearing. If i lose the appeal which i most likely will because they are a big company and i cant afford to hire a lawyer do i have to pay back all the unemployment i have collected. I read on here that there was a bill passed to protect people from having to repay it but the unemployment website seems to say i have to repay it. 26 weeks of unemployment is a lot to have to pay back when you are still currently unemployed. i knew nothing of the companies appeal until today after i had already finished claiming my 26 weeks. Had i known they were appealing this and there was a chance i would have to pay everything back i wouldn't have accepted the unemployment to begin with. please anyone that could help me with information would be greatly appreciated

Did you receive any documents from your employer when you were laid off?
I have never heard of a former employer appealing. I have been laid off 4 times in NJ in the past 12 years.
