I am a 19 year old young lady from Texas, I will be moving out for the first time in the beginning of the year. I am still undecisive wheather to choose staten island or new jersey... As far as a young first time mover, which place would be better in a safty, affordability and what not aspect? I am realtor in Texas but do not know much about north east real estate or the north east in general other than some basic information about ohio... Any help with knowledge of the real estate, economical, and the areas in general will be a big help.. Thank you!

Need more information. Do you want to rent/buy? Are you going to work as a realtor out here? Why Staten Island right off the bat? If you are going to work as a realtor, have you looked at whether or not New Jersey will honor your license or will you have to recertify?

If you think you're ready for the great northeast, you might consider NJ first and work your way up to the Big Apple. Unless you have a network or relatives in the area, NY can be expensive and overwhelming.

I'm thinking you might as well move to Jersey now, because if you move to Staten Island your gonna wind up in Jersey anyway.

I have to agree with Maria g
Start with New jersey
Depending on where you will be working Staten Island can be a pain to commute from

You will have to supply a little more info so we can suggest Places for you
What is your Budget
Renting/buying
Where will you be working

I normally would agree with the rest about by passing Staten Island and moving to NJ. But you are only 19 yrs. old and there is more happening in S.I. as far as clubs and going out. You have access to Bklyn and Manhattan clubs also. This I know for I have a 20 yr.old daughter and she is always in S.I. lol

As far as your job will you be doing real estate once you move? You may have to take a class, not sure for NYC and NJ has different amount of hrs. to put in for class... Good luck to you!
