The house being on pilings won't matter much if you can't get there. Again, there you go with your astounding lack of awareness, not every house is elevated. But I'm sure accd to you, they get what they deserve.
its a summer house, i dont need to get there until july.
ugh I hate owning an old house!! I am buying a new one if I can sell this one after Sandy leaves!! I am so tired of the leaks, the cracks, the basement flooding, the downward sloping driveway, everything!! I want a new house LOL
I hope that is not the case but in case CaptainNJ hasn't passed....errrr....is still awake I thought he'd like to know.
Does anyone actually believe that CaptainNJ actually has a house on LBI or for that matter that anything he says is true? He's an internet contrarian who lives to argue with people he'll never actually meet or have to answer to in real life. He's the kind of guy who in real life would never think of raising his voice in opposition to anything or rocking the boat, but put him behind a computer screen and a keyboard and he's King Kong Threads like this are a good source of information-keep it going and don't waste your time responding to the imagination of a made up online persona.

No, I don't actually believe a word this individual said, however, his posts encouraged me to do some digging about the storm and the devastation it caused. I also took the opportunity to do research on how homes are built so much better then years ago and homes on stilts/poles, dug down deep enough are much more likely to withstand these powerful storms.
I moved from the Jersey Shore (where I grew up) to North Carolina well over 20 years ago and still maintain contact with many people who live at the shore..more central/northern Jersey Shore and friends from Manhattan (where I lived for a few years), as well as friends from Connecticut.
I hope everyone is safe and this does turn out to be over-rated. I've been glued to the tv and have spoken to several friends over the course of the day. So far, with those I spoke to, things haven't been too terrible. Now if everyone can just make it through the night.
