There were very few million dollars homes lost in Katrina. There will be thousands in Sandy.
I know the "why". Doesn't change my statement. I'm not playing "my storm is worse than yours" ("yours" being Katrina, not anything personal).

Bottom line, in the big picture very few people died during Sandy. More than TEN TIMES the people died during Katrina. Property losses really don't matter. SURVIVING is the important thing.

Jesus Christ, please don't be patronizing. I KNOW that. Just offering another angle. I'm sorry this offends you so much.

Not trying to be argumentative, but you might think twice about that... Katrina came in the Miami area as a Cat1 doing considerable damage , moved clean across all of South Florida, before strengthening in the Gulf. Making second landfall on the Gulf Coast (not just NO), taking a clear swath all the way to Pascagoula, and then causing tremendous flooding all the way into the midwest as she turned into a depression.. I remember it quite well as I had family in all three areas affected. With that being said... our thoughts are with you and your families...

I think Sandy had an impact on more people because it hit an area with a higher population density. Plus, this area is not prone to serious hurricanes. One thing that made Katrina bad was the pathetic government response and preparation. I think Sandy could have been as bad as Katrina if it wasn't handled so well.

Sandy is national travesty that no one should let happen again. Hurricanes are for the South, not us.
