Hello All,

So here's the issue, my "hubby" would like to move, I am trying to keep an open mind. We are considering maybe North NJ, but have no idea where to go. I am researching, but the internet has not given me enough info to help narrow the selection;was hoping that I could get some help because I am at my wits end.

We currently live on Long Island in NY state. The area we live in has become very busy, with alot of traffic and little leg room. Hubby is looking for more room for his "toys", he is a diesel mechanic and has all sorts of equipment (bobcat, trailer, etcetc), and I am looking for a bigger house. Also, he would like to start his own business, so somewhere near industry. Ideally, I would like to have something that has acreage 2/3+ and is within a 20min drive to civilization (ie shoppingmall/starbucks/Barnes and Nobles)-I guess I want the same thing that everyone wants, lol. An affordable house in a nice neighborhood with good schools, a good economy, and good shopping/entertainment.

Any suggestions???

Thanks so much!!!

This is the south Jersey/Philly area part of the forum. You may want to post in the other New jersey section.

Without knowing your budget or work parameters, Morris County (Randolph and "west"), Somerset County (maybe Branchburg and west, or Hillsborough and Montgomery Twsp), all of Sussex, Hunterdon and Warren counties would fit the bill. In Sussex stay around Sparta or Newton to have the 20 min "shopping" criteria met. All schools will be good to excellent (there may be some iffy Warren County schools but don't know offhand which ones they would be).

That's just off the top of my head.

That's pretty easy to come by in much of the state, what are the workplace + budget constraints?

It seems that there's an underlying question of whether to move at all... I did the move four years ago... living in Randolph and loving it.

Thanks to "what exit" jokes, the lovely view when others fly into Newark Airport, The Sopranos and Jersey Shore, we have a reputation of being ugly and dumb. Not the case at all... I am only sorry we didn't move sooner.
