We are looking at this house in Wyckoff. It is about 250 yards from 208 up a slight hill and there are about 4 houses and 2 streets between this house and the highway. I stood outside the house during the day and at night and could not hear the cars on the highway. Of couse, there is no sound inside the house.

What do you think about how far this house is from the highway? Would it be a significant factor for you?

I am just trying to figure out what the general reaction to the distance would be. For me personally, it is not at all a dealbreaker. However, if it is for most people then I am afraid that resale value may be hurt significantly when I am trying to sell.

Appreciate the comments. Thanks in advance.

For me, that distance is not a significant negative factor.

Can you see the lights from the cars and are you aware that 208 is near when you are outside the house? If not then it probably doesn't influence the price.

well the fact that you have concerns should make it clear that others would too and it would affect the price

That's far enough that it wouldn't make me not purchase the home. If it backed to 208, I wouldn't be interested. But what is the better part of half a mile or more wouldn't make me think once, let alone twice.

I dont think so. From what I remember, you would never know you're near 208 from this development.

That part of 208 isn't as heavily trafficked as the 208 past Hawthorne, so you might not have the noise pollution you would get further down the highway.

On Sundays most stores are closed, so you will enjoy peaceful and quiet day

but you will have to deal with a very small minority that actually believe that blue laws cure all evils -- even potential highway noise from 208!!!
