Okay, so about 4 months ago I forgot my EZ pass. I was like a dollar short in cash to pay the toll so I received a bill from the toll operator in writing. Well I forgot about it and then received a warning in the mail a month or so later I recently found. Is there any way I can pay this thing off? Penalties?

If you just forgot your EZ-pass you should have just been able to give them your EZ-pass number and they'd deduct the toll (with no penalty). Now that it's a while later there might be a penalty; it should say what to do on the bill or the letter.

If you just pay the toll it's highly unlikely they'll come after you for the penalty.

If you just drove through the booth the cam would record your license plate number then they are supposed to bill you that way, assuming you have the plate correctly registered on your account online.

Misunderstanding, I should not have mentioned the EZ pass the way I did. I was going to barrow someone else's I know is what I should have said. I don't have an account. Am I going to screwed with a big fine?

I also did not run the toll, I stopped and the attendant wrote me a bill.

Just contact the EZPass office and they can check it by plate number. Doubt it will be anything beyond the balance.

You can ask your friend to enter your vehicle info on their account, then give EZ Pass the account number and they will void the penalty.

This has nothing at all to do with EZ Pass in anyway unless I am misreading the OP.

OP didn't have EZ Pass with them, they were a dollar short on the cash. The toll collector at the booth wrote them a bill for the unpaid toll. OP forgot about toll and is now getting a letter about it.

OP, correct me if I am wrong, but you are not getting an "EZ Pass Violation Notice" but you are getting an actual bill from "XYZ Authority" for the toll, correct?

If that is the case, then you need to respond to the letter by remitting payment for the toll.

That's correct. I did the same thing since the OP started this thread. I bought another car and left my EZ-pass in the old one. Without thinking, and running on auto-pilot at 6 a.m., I drove through the EZ-pass booth getting onto the GSP. The other day I got a photo of my car and temporary license plate in the mail with bill for $50.50. Fifty cents for the toll, fifty dollars for the fine. LOL. I will send them the 50 cents using a 45-cent stamp.
