When will Rutgers basketball start keeping the in-state talent. The football program has improved its own in-state recruiting for years now. But what is up with the Basketball program? Imagine Rutgers with these guys over the recent years: DaSean Butler, Kyrie Irving, Kidd Gilchrist, Earl Clark etc Andrew Bynum even, if they could convince him to stay, or even before him Al Harrington.

Why go to Rutgers when you can go to school in NC and not have to put up with that inconvenience of doing school work?

Not much college tradition & coaches in NJ. Basketball is much bigger in places like IN, KY & NC.

College sports in general is not big in the northeast like in the rural areas of course. But Rutgers Football has made some headway in keeping in-state talent. Now New Jersey is one of the premier states for BBall recruiting. We have put out lots of top college talent over the years. If Rutgers can keep the NJ BBallers, the team would be absolutely unstoppable. Rutgers could literally become Duke or UNC. Now Basketball facilities are much cheaper than football, plus they can always use the Prude or the Continental Airlines arena now that it is vacant. Ever since the Nets moved to Brooklyn, what will become of their practice and training facilities here in NJ?

The only way to do it is to hire a big name coach to go out and get the kids. Is RU willing to pay for a men's coach like they did for the women with Stringer?

Yes, they'll be getting many more millions than they get now. The Big 10's no slouch in basketball as you have Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Michigan St, OSU, etc. Rutgers hasn't made it to the tournament in 20+ years. They're going to have to battle as hard as they do in football to be relevant.

Bobby Hurley now is the Assistant Head Coach at Rhode Island. The Head Coach is his brother Danny.
