Default East Orange

my wife and I are thinking about buying a place in East Orange.

the name of the condominium is 60 Parkway Drive :: East Orange, NJ

is a luxury condo with numerous amenities for two bedroom 1360 sq ft, priced at $269,000.

the bus from Port Authority (NYC) stops right in front of the complex.
an a 25 minute ride to Penn Station by train.

all I'm reading from other members on East Orange in this forum, is how high that crime is and how bad the schools are.

please help.

how can we help?
what you are seeing posted here is not a strectching of the truth, the area has high crime, bad schools and it's future appears to be bleak.
Fortunately you've discovered the warts before you committed.

it is possible that the place you are buying is very nice, you should go visit the area a different times, visit the local business area, get a good view of what the area is about and then decide if the low cost of the unit is worth it vis a vis the quality of life issues.
good luck

There's a reason the price is so low. There's new luxury condos in Montclair that are double the price.

And in Jersey City they're 4x that price. I think I'm beginning to see a pattern here......

The first thing I caught about 60 is the frequency of the bus service- every hour. Then I asked people. The answers were bad. Then I drove there (I live in Queens) and let me tell you, I have been all over NYC 5 boroughs working as a bus driver and parts of Jersey and never saw something so F'd up in my life. I literally could not leave my car and that says a lot. I have stopped looking for real estate as a result of becoming diluted with that ad from the developer. Total bait and switch.

What streets does it intersect. Parkway dr is not bad itself it is every street surrounding it. I have not seen any condos so I am wondering where this is.
