Thank you! That was a very good piece in The New Yorker. HBO also did a wonderful documentary about the effects of the Ford Motor Company plant toxic dumping in Mahwah which directly affected the health and lives of the Ramapough Mountain Indians. It also helps tell the story. HBO

I saw that. Paint from the Mahwah plant being trucked into the mountains and dumped anywhere by an unscrupulous hauler working for Ford. Ford knew what was going on too. The kids up there used to ride down "paint hills" on cardboard. They walk around one neighborhood and point to houses "they have cancer and they have cancer" all up & down the block. Our idiot politicians 50 years ago didn't give 2 sh*ts about the environment.
i believe you can see the city and new jersey in ramapo reservation if you climb to the rock ,(thats what i call it anyway)
as you enter the park you can go straight or take a right around the lower lake
take a right and proceed to walk around the lake ,as you come to the field ,look up to the mountain you will see a rock sticking out ,ppl go up there and hang out ,but its certainly an uphill hike
continue on the trail around the lake ,off of that main trail is a trail on the right ,the only one with a bridge going across a little stream ,take that trail to the rock
last time i was there ,there was no fence at the edge of the rock ,becareful its a long way down ,have fun
Thank you, I'm excited to go to that spot and check it out. I've been to that reservation plenty of times, but I've never been able to find "the rock".
