I was wondering if anyone on this forum drives into Jersey City for work. I am trying to get real takes on the traffic and time needed to get in. I will be commuting from the Princeton Junction area. I hear everything from 50 minutes to 1.5 hours. What I want to know is when is a "good" time to hit the road and not get stuck in too much traffic - this applies to both ways. It seems like getting up to Exit 14 around 8:30AM would not be too bad and leaving at around 6PM would not put in bumper to bumper traffic - any advice?

you might be able to do it in under an hour at off times but 1.5 hrs+ is more realistic from 7-9 am
you will encounter bad traffic at 8:30, getting out at 6 shouldn't be an issue, you should consider using the train from princeton jct

I was thinking about it but the wait for a spot is 5+ years and the traffic around the station seems just as bad. the time spent trying to get in/out of the station would probably be better servers driving in. Also, NJT is notoriously bad with delays, etc hence the reason for the drive in.

By the way what is "off hours"? I thought 8:30AM or 9AM would qualify.
