Yes, there are lots of new developments going up in Chesterfield. But Bordentown Twp and Bordentown City have some advantages. Chesterfield relies on other communities for its "downtown", whereas Bordentown has grocery stores, gas stations, and the basics intact. In fact Bordentown City is now being spoken of in the same manner as New Hope & Lambertville - an artist community with great restaurants. It also has the Riverline train, which allows commuting connections to Philly and NYC - without the drive that you'll have from Chestefield. But if you do drive, you are much more accessible than Chesterfield residents to I-295, I-95, I-195, NJ Tpke, PA Tpke, Rte 130 & Rte 206. The taxes are still better in the Bordentowns, and they have already finished constructing their new HS and making room for the new residential construction in the Twp. The Bordentowns have almost complete build-out, with most developments already approved, whereas there could still be a lot more population ahead in Chesterfield. Politically Bordentown City has a much more open form of government, with the Township constantly flexing its political muscle from the county machines behind it. Instead of listening to the heartbeat of the people, they are still listening to the good old boys in the back rooms of the diners. Chesterfield is a 'little' bit more open than the Twp. Bordentown's high school is smaller (and brand new), even though it is regional, like Chesterfield. I am glad my son will be going to Bordentown HS rather than Northern Burlington. All are great places, and all have historic homes, as well as new construction. And being in Burlington County, the taxes are still lower than most of the state. Good luck, I picked Bordentown after considering my move to NJ.
