I have to say the "Stop it!" video of a Bob Newhart show is priceless! I'm sure many people on this forum will benefit from
that advice. LOL
Anyway, thanks for posting the article on Trenton - at least I can keep up with what is going on in New Jersey's troubled cities.......and I wouldn't want to be in Rep. Rush Holt's shoes. I think he has an impossible task.
This is BS but it's so typical to hear something like this. The poor communities in Newark and Camden don't give a **** about THEMSELVES or their communities. It's called taking responsibility, something these people know nothing about.
Money and resources are thrown at these communites like crazy and nothing ever changed. Blame the people.
Really? Where's your evidence of this? Have you ever been to Newark or Camden and spoken to anyone there to ascertain how much they care about themselves or their community?
Well IDk, how about if the good people in the inner city just heeds Michael Jackson’s words. Remember when he sang:
" If you can't feed your baby, Then don't have a baby"
If people would meet get married, SAVE, then have a baby then the whole situation would get better. Poverty would go away, and thus the Gangs.
But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
So who is to blame? those of us that work, save, then have children or those who feel it's their RIGHT to just live off the Gov?
Btw, I am still laughing at the other OP's: “disenfranchised people”. Oh? Who is not allowed to vote, that has the legal right to vote.
Have you been keeping up with the Republican attempts in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Texas and Florida to make voting tougher for people in minority communities, as well as the challenge to the Voting Rights Act in the Supreme Court?
Watch HBOs 'The Wire' to get a good perspective on just how deep the problem really is. There is more money made in the ghettos then anywhere else. The contracts payed in full to all who partake (usually the same perps are in line as they know how to game the system) are doled out like a bottomless pit. And the benefits of the contractors work (be it schools, general safety, garbage collection, code enforcement, etc)., are all but executed, doing the bear minimum. There's a reason people like ex mayor Sharp James hold on to office for so long. Go to any ghetto and you'll find more non-profit businesses (many of some type of faith/church), contributing nothing to the tax roll of their communities but receiving generous benefits. Benefits that are designed to reach the many people in need. But the circle of greed and corruption are just too much, too toxic. And the 'takers' are there to do what they know best. It's woven deep in the system and flushing it out is nearly impossible. At least not alone. Usually, when the problem is exposed, its too late. And the folks in the suit and tie then scramble for their PR moment, get their new moneys for the 'new building' or 'new school' and the cycle starts all over again. This is poverty.

Whoa.
Where do you live? On Pluto?
These communities?
Are minority communties not apart of Nj?
We are the state of Nj,not the state of Livingston,Newark, etc.
Its OUR community. If you think those gangs won't penetrate your suburb or wherever you live, think again!
They are already there...you just don't notice.
Drug dealers live in nice communities and fly under the radar ALL the time.
Newark, Paterson, Camden, etc all have gang related issues. If the F.B.I. or whatever agency pretty much took down the Italian mafia what is so difficult about doing the same in the areas listed and more.
id imagine organized crime is easier to pin down because they actually have an infrastructure in place and members that have a combination of legitimate and non-legitimate activities. it helps you keep track of their activities, associates, freeze assets, etc.
Surprised no one said this, but its actually illegal immigrant gangs growing in numbers.
Ont thing to do? Deport any illegal caught doing gang activity
maybe deport any illegal? they are here illegally.
