This Saturday, we're going to our first Rutgers football game and are wondering about tailgating and parking. Go people tailgate as is done at Giants stadium and at West Point games? (BBQ, set up chairs, etc.) How early to people arrive in the parking lot? (The game is at noon.)

Any info would be helpful. I've searched this forum, but haven't found any postings on this this. Thanks!

I know this is an old post but I thought I'd offer some advice for those who might need it this season!

People tailgate at Rutgers- young and old alike. You need a permit to park in most of the lots near the stadium, which I think you can get along with season tickets. You can tailgate on the Livingston Campus also and pay by the day- $20 for parking. People usually arrive early for noon games, maybe around 8-9 am, and later for later games.
For tailgating you can bring grills, music, games, alcohol, whatever you like.

The tailgating at Rutgers games is better than at Giants games, and certainly better than at Army games. The Livingston lots will be your best bet if you are not a season ticketholder. Knowing somebody in one of the grass lots on Busch Campus is your best bet though.
