I don't know what they told you, but there's NO license plate that allows you to double park. NONE. Trucks, unloading merchandise for even a minute, get tickets. The only cars that don't get tickets are those with handicapped plates (which are issued only after certification by a city-employed physician) and diplomat plates.

No, commercial vehicles are sometimes given a pass, but not usually. Just ask any contractor, truck driver or delivery van driver.
