I apologize in advanced if I'm out of line...but I'm pissed off, and would like to rant. I am desperatly trying to find a rental for my family of 4 and I am struggling to find anything in our price range. I understand most of the rentals that are normally available are being occupied by Sandy victims, and while we weathered the storm, we were dealt no damage...thankfully. While I understand what is going on, what I don't understand is why the available rentals are way overpriced. 1500 is high, 2900 is insane for a 3 bedroom anything. I am searching a wide area, from Lakewood to Galloway, west to Lumberton.
Anyone else in a similar situation...?

Rental market is very tight. Beyond Sandy, there are many people who have been choosing to rent (nervous about economy/job, tougher to qualify for mortgage). Unfortunately, right now you'll probably have to pay much more than you want.

Yeah, we've been looking on and off for 6-9 months. The market is REALLY tight right now, much more so than last summer or fall. I'm depressed.

HalfFull, if we could afford we would, especially to be in the area we want, with the school systems as good as they are there, and our family and best friends...its just not a possibility for us to pay 2100 for a 3 bedroom....

kristir, im depressed too... our lease is up in August, and wanted to be in a new place before the new school year starts. so that gives us 4 months to find something decent...

ugh..

Sounds like you are looking in South Jersey. Try living up north where 1500 is an absolute STEAL for a 3bd!!!!

Rob, yes, south jersey. My husband works in Stafford Township, and even if 1500 were doable, there are very very few available...

If I saw a 3BR for only $1,500 up here I'd be more suspicious than the old lady on my block who sits on her porch watching everyone park their cars, giving you "the eye".

Come on over to Marlton. You can rent a 3 bedroom townhouse for around $1,500.

well if the governement let the banks foreclose on all of the empty houses and then sell them to investors, there would be tons of rentals out there

I live in Lakewood and have a large 2 bedroom apt (that I LOVE) and pay $1350/mo so I don't think there's any chance of getting a 3 BR for $1500, unless it's in a horrible location or a very small/unkempt property in this area. There are no 3 bedrooms in my complex, which is another problem. 3 bedrooms aren't easy to come by apartment wise these days.

Sorry
