Buying in Monroe Twp.
Hi, I'm going to put my first big deposit this weekend to buy a new home in Monroe Twp ( middlesex county) as a first time buyer. The development is off the Buckelew Avenue ( RT 522). Can someone tell me some neigborhood stuff such as nearest grocery store, day care center..etc. Also I'll driving to work in Morris County, what would be the best route to catch and the traffic pattern, timings. etc. ( I do have small timing flexibility from work) Or am I making a mistake buying this far from work( morristown). Thanks. oh! also wife will be looking for job, what towns or any industrial park she should look into ( new brunswick, princeton....what else).

nkinjc- Can't tell you anything about your commute to Morris Co. from Monroe. But can tell you that Monroe is a very popular area.
Don't know what your wife does but you will be very close to exit 8-A- tons of Warehouses at that exit, Jamesburg and Cranbury. Depends on what your wife is looking for?

Your builder should provide you with a whole lot of this info...
If not, you'll have people here who can help you. In Cranbury, there is a Crate and Barrel outlet. So fantastic.

Thanks guys. Wife is a MBA, she is looking for an entry level in accounting, finance...anything as long it's around 10-15 miles in radius since we have 2.5 yrs old. and would like to stay around. The builder's realtor is not much help. She comes to her office from another town and is not familiar with the Monroe at all.

No problem. Will let you know, but yes they are not ready to go down on price . I'm buying a spec. (already built) home and builder's lady said there was nego. room. What little I learned is that even if they are not ready to negotiate, just come out and say you offer anyway. I was little shy once they said no......but I left the office by giving little lower number. Few days later, I called back and said what they thought, that was my way of neg. process. They did come back with counter numver

nkinjc, from the recent sign of economy and the fact the fed keeps cutting interest rate, i would think the real estate market will not go significantly lower from here next spring. if you live for more than 5 years, it should not be a problem at all. any way, congratulations!

yes, primrose acre. The listing price was 650K on the spec. home, she only came down to 630k with some options already in the home. but she would give no break on the base price if you want to build one......I tried to convince but no luck, she did offer 10% off the options....but it was still way expensive. I think if you can make the deal on the spec. home they do give a very little break. I also visited Hallmark homes...They also had very nice models and some spec. homes, and they are giving 75k off the spec. homes, but the land size is less than .25ac.
