Because the last thing Christie wants is a Senate race drawing more Democrats to the poles. Enthusiasm about Buono is low, but a dynamic Democratic Senate candidate could inject a lot of energy into the race. He wants to make sure that the November 2013 general stays quiet.

Because Christie is a RHINO. He should just change to Democrat and stop playing games. He's a big phony.

Two words sum up christie:

1. Selfish
2. Phony

Never for a second does he even think about what is best for the people of New Jersey. His entire time in office has been a joke. His stronger than the storm commercials are sickening. I bet every day he prays for tragedies so he can get in front of a camera and pretend to be a leader.

Not a fan of this move at all. Should have just appointed someone through 2014 and been done with it.

He knew that no matter what he did people would find a reason to complain. So he did what he wanted. I think it is a waste, but he had every right to do it.

he has every right to do it????? what does that mean? that because its within his power to make a decision, "he has every right" to make a terrible one? thats an interesting logic.

i wasnt too thrilled to push the button for him this morning. but i guess it is nj and maybe i should be "satisfied."

He had every right to decide to squander $25 million of the public's money for his own political purposes?

Yes, he had that right under the NJ Constitution, but...the next time that somebody says something like, "Christie might be loud, but at least he always has NJ's best interests at heart", please ask yourself if that statement actually has any validity.

I believe that it does not have any validity, as proven by this decision.
Instead, I submit that he is just one more crass politician, albeit one who is much more blatant regarding his political machinations than most politicians are.

...and if it was the other way around the Dems would be pulling the same crap.

Lets not forgot the fast one they pulled with Torricelli.

To play devil's advocate, would people be upset if he just appointed a republican through 2014?
