North Brunswick, NJ and some other towns nearby are said to have Blue Ribbon Schools. What does that even mean? How come you don't hear about Blue Ribbon Schools in Northern NJ?

When my daughter was in first grade, our school was a Blue Ribbon School. Mid-90s, NW Bergen County.

Of course they have Blue Ribbon schools in Northern NJ.

Look at this year's list--Hawthorne, Paramus, Montclair, Mahwah, Ridgewood, Wyckoff...sounds like North Jersey to me!

There are also different "blue ribbon" programs out there. My old elementary school in Collingswood was awarded a "blue ribbon" but doesn't show up that list. My kids school also earned some kind of blue ribbon and/or governor's award a few years ago as well. I wouldn't put too much stock in the recognition.
