Who would talk about an issue like this in the community? A church leader or rabbi looking for harmony? A place where police officers hang out to eat, and you can talk with them casually? Find a local university's sociology department and talk to someone about your concerns, they may direct you to knowledge or tell you how to find it. Old waitstaff? I'm really not sure who takes the pulse in the community.

It's not bad at all. I have lived in Teaneck for 7 years and love it. It is very diverse. Never had an issue at all. Amsterdam Avenue is close to Votee park which is great. I do think that the closer you get to Teaneck Road (past Route 4) the area visually changes. Stores are look a bit run down, etc. Teaneck is huge, so you should also look at the area around the golf course, Holy Name Hospital or Cedar Lane. Great feel on that part of town. Good luck and you can PM me any questions if you like.
