anyone care to share?

Gallon of milk around 3.29 at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods I think. Non organic of course.

Bread is expensive. 3 bucks or more for 12 grain at whole foods. This is one of those things that I should really be making myself.

Diesel is about 3.39. But at least we are getting 40 miles per gallon.

Don't do the movies or McDonalds or the bus.

9. Average grocery bill $130 for two people no pets about once a month (favorites grocery stores for best deals – H Mart Korean grocery in Little Ferry for seafood and produce, Seabra’s Supermarket Portuguese grocery in Newark for meat)

HUH???
can you post your grocery list?? I want to try it out
kateb518 - I have to drag my boyfriend grocery shopping so we don't go often (use to be once every few months), we use to eat out a lot but are trying to change that - I guess a comparable monthly eating out tab should have been included but I wouldn't even know where to start. We're both foodies - I love to cook and he's starting to come to terms with his gourmet inner child (very funny since he’s a long-haired biker) so it's becoming easier to make trips to the store and as a result, our bills are growing but that's fine with me - cheaper and usually tastier than eating out.

Here in St. Petersburg, FL:

Milk: Close to, if not slightly over 4.00. (I know OJ is about 5 a gallon, now. Ironic considering it's our grown fruit....)

Bread: 1.85 (Sunbeam)

Gas: Anywhere from 3.09-3.13 a gallon (I don't drive, so I had to look that up).

One way bus fare: 1.50 (it's cheaper to buy a pass for 3.50, can be used all day. They don't believe in bus transfers here...)

Movie ticket: It's been a year since I last went to a theater, and the last time I went I paid 7.50/8.00.

McDonald's Double Cheeseburger - 1.00

Oil Change - I believe it's around 20.00-25.00 at a local gas station.

Milk is $4.58

gas - i paid $3.05 from hess this morning but i saw some at $3.11

Bread - about $2.00 a loaf unless you go the mertia bread house then it's like .98

Oil change from Tuffy - $ 11- 18 depending on what they do. i hate this fee for dumping out the old oil now. I had free oil change coupons and they charged me a disposal fee

Yeah the all day lynx pas is better $3.50 or the montly for $38

Double cheeseburge from mickey d's = $1 but the 2 for $2 menu is sooo much better

$200 - to brighthouse cable for my internet connection, unlimited long distance phone coverage and digital cable that was a rip off

I probably spend $200 a week at the grocery store lol Hot Pockets and lucky charms are expensive. lucky charms are like $5 a box now! Thank god for wal-mart and the self check out - i probably actually take home about $600 worth.

just kidding - seriously - don't call the store security on me

Cereal IS expensive (Except in NJ they make more [if that's where you're at. I know here in FL, we make a lot less, and pay nearly the same prices, it seems]) - I was looking at some last night, wanting something fairly healthy (I'm tired of all that sugary stuff), and picked up a box of Oatmeal Crisp for over 4 bucks. I was tempted to try Nature Valley's new cereal, but it was also over 4.00 - and only had 14 or 16 oz.....that made it less than appealing. The sweetened "kid" cereal runs anywhere from 3.50 (generally closer to 4.00) up to 5.00 - depending on the kind of cereal and the size of the box.

Oh, and our monthly passes here run 45.

I'm right here in overpriced Orlando, Winter Park no less, which for some unknown reason is more expensive to live in. How do you build a city inside a city and then raise all the prices?

Cereal in NJ is VERY expensive. I don't eat it unless it's on sale and I used to eat cereal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!!! Most are $4.99 and the amount that comes in the box is just enough for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But what bugs me out is when cereal is on sale for 2 for $4 the milk is $4.29 so what am I really saving anyway??

I love oatmeal but at $3.99 it is a steep treat and now it is creeping to $4.19 (the magic .19 that they figure means so little to us).

I guess the upside is I have lost a few pounds since I can't afford groceries

I'm a college kid (well, I'm in my early 20's - so I guess you could say "kid"), still live at home, and split bills with my mom (it's just she and I, and our pets).

I fear the bills I'll get once I move out (I want to move there) - student loans, here I come!
