Let's change this up a bit

1. A gallon of milk - we don't drink milk, six pack of 'decent' beer to enjoy with dinner $9.00

2. A loaf of bread - I really like the european style bread at A&P for once in a while $4.50, the french baguette from Panera is really good $2.39

3. A gallon of gas $2.89 on the GSP

4. Round trip transport cost to nearest big city (NYC in this case) for work/play $9.00 for train, if driving - $6.00 EZ Pass plus gas plus parking garage – between $30 to $40-50 (extra fees for large size SUV)

5. Adult movie ticket $7.75 Clearview Cinema (we don't go to the movies, too many annoying people) pre-viewed DVD's from Blockbuster to enjoy at home without having your seat kicked, listening to cell phones go off, smelling the guy in the row beneath you who doesn't like to bathe...they always seem to sit near me - 2 for $20

6. No McDs or Burger King - average cost of a meal out with a couple drinks for two people (nothing special just a burger etc) $40 -- pizza delivery with tax and tip $13

7. An oil change from my trusted mechanic $35 – they always squeeze in me in last minute and the car is ready quickly

8. Best deal found at the grocery store $5.99 per LB for king crab legs end of summer (A&P)

9. Average grocery bill $130 for two people no pets about once a month (favorites grocery stores for best deals – H Mart Korean grocery in Little Ferry for seafood and produce, Seabra’s Supermarket Portuguese grocery in Newark for meat)

10. Average PSE&G bill, winter - $150, summer - $100 for two people in a two bedroom apt with 1-2 space heaters in main rooms used only when present to cut down on gas usage (old house with no insulation)

Wow @ #9! We have 2 adults and 2 young children (3 1/2 and 17 mths) and spend around $150 a week if we are being conservative!

Milk: half-gallon organic is around $3.50

Bread: Bakery @ Shop Rite or Stop & Shop - tends to be about 2.50

Gas: I've stopped looking & just solemnly turn over my debit card to the attendant

Round trip to NYC - all the answers I've seen seem right on target. I think the train from Dover to Penn Station was about $20. Obviously taking the car in would be more.

Movie Ticket: 10.25 unless it's a matinee

McD/etc: Don't do fast food here, but pizza for the 4 of us is around $15 - 20 depending on which place & whether we get soda

Oil Change: $20 at a great little local garage
