Princeton Junction is just a parking lot and not a town center.
Try Maplewood/South Orange, Madison, Morris Plains, All of Montclair, Fanwood (Change in Newark) , Cranford (change in Newark), Westwood (change in Hoboken/Secaucus), Westfield (change in Newark), Hillsdale (Change in Hoboken/Secaucus), Ridgewood (same), Glen Ridge, Glen Rock, Metchehen, South Amboy, Woodbridge (downtown), Chatham (over rated), Millburn (lousy downtown compared to others), Summit, Gladstone line (not great service).
Thats a good list of Transit villages or great suburban town center with train station in the middle.
Linden, NJ. Cheaper fare, decent parking that has police protection. And just one train into NYC as oppose to transfers. Transferring at Newark Penn sucks because the neighborhood is a reminiscent of how bad NYC used to be.
I guess i do it for all the other people reading the thread.
Appreciate you doing that! But there are arleady hundreds of threads with recommendations on "where to live/buy" with access to train stations/good schools/family friendly neighborhood...
Unless the OP is very specific, it is a waste of time to provide suggestions IMO.

Go Troll somewhere else , theres nothing wrong with Transferring at Newark Penn Station unlike New York Penn where your treated like caged animals...and hoarded into small hallways and staircases. The Neighborhood to the East has some of the best Portuguese food in the region.

I actually agree in part with what that poster said about switching in Newark, but only because it is annoying IMO - has nothing to do with Newark itself for me. I live in Cranford and it's much easier for me to drive 10 mins to Linden and take the train direct to NYP from there. I've done Cranford to Newark to NYP but find going from Linden easier overall.
