to show you what a POS these lists generally are - our Patch site revealed our town's ranking. compared to the 2008 (?) drug induced ranking, we've gone up about 250 slots (if not more). LOL

the transportation fund doesn't even cover 70% of road maint. your tolls pretty much fund the roads you are using, with a tiny bit going to public transit. so...nope. most likely not. but it's always nice to believe you're the king.

1. im not really sure how me feeling i pay for the roads i use and then some translates to me believing im king. by saying that, it seems to me that you arent being completely objective.

2. im not trying to make a point of paying for public transit, my main point is that i pay for what i use and would rather any extra money stays out of public transit (no matter how much or how little it may be). im pretty sure the $8 obx toll and $13 vzb toll goes to more than maintaining those bridges. i saw the tpk's numbers and they are bringing in more than they spend on the roads. im not sure about the gsp. those tolls then are on top of the gas taxes, registration and other dmv fees.

thats a funny concept. its funny that the government has forced us to pay the full cost of schooling and then much more but because of how our "payment plan" works out; many people are convinced that we pay less than the full cost. my property taxes in any one year wont cover the cost of the school. but you take all the time i have and will spend on property taxes in my life and then take the amount used to educate my mcnugget, i bet im not making out so well on the deal.

its as if i bought a car that would cost $300 a month for 5 years, but im paying $150 a month for 20 years and you tell me that im not paying the full cost because my monthly payments are half of what they should be.

if you have 1 kid or less, you're probably correct. but then you're also assuming that there's no externality benefits to your community and state from paying school taxes. but then...that's what you folks usually assume.

probably more than 1 kid. i believe public school is 13 years per kid, im going to be paying property taxes for a good 60ish years. the "externality benefits" are a different discussion. you suggested i dont pay the cost of education for my mcnugget, thats clearly wrong.
