If you have time, try calling the number for childcare assistance and asking them for a referral list. They don't recommend on place over another, but once you have a list some numbers you can call and set up appointments to visit.
I've found out that the best way to pick a daycare is to make two or three visits, and talk to the teachers. Each child is different, so every daycare won't work. I love my son's daycare but when my cousin put her son there, he didn't do well. Of course, he's the 2007 version of Dennis to Menance (with cornrows instead of blonde hair) so I could see how a place with rules, structure and fire laws would be a problem for him. Good luck!
