I'm from Philly and I just got a job at Hoboken, NJ. My family and I are really looking forward to the move. Could anyone provide advice on areas to look at for buying a home with the following options if possible:
* Commuting distance to Hoboken by train (less than 1 hour if possible)
* 4-bedroom single family home in the $400K to $500K range
* Safe neighborhood
* Good schools (public or private)
* Activities (cultural, outdoor) for family of 5 with 3 kids under the age of 6
I've seen a lot of good posts in other threads and look forward to reviewing replies to this one.
I would say to try East Brunswick. It is a more affuluent town but not too expensive to scare first time home buyers away. Within $500K you could find what you want and the schools are just as good as some of the best private schools.
