New Job in Woodcliff Lake, NJ
I will be starting a new job in Woodcliff Lake, NJ this summer.
I will be making approximatley $100k/year.
I have a daughter in High School and am looking for a good school district.
Does anyone have a suggestion as a good place to move? Would southern NY state be a better option based on cost.
I am looking to keep the commute within an hour.

Can you be more specific about your housing needs? Looking for a single family home or townhome/condo? How much space do you need? Have you determine how much home you can afford in terms of either mortgage amount or monthly rent?
It's easy to respond to the school issue...the following Bergen County districts have made it into the top 75 for 2006 according to NJ Monthly magazine: Mahwah, Oakland, Franklin Lakes, Wyckoff, Allendale, Ramsey, USR, Montvale, park Ridge, River Vale, Old Tapan, Ridgewood, Tenafly, Glen Rock, Closter, Creskill, Demarest, Saddle River, Woodcliff Lake.
The schools won't be a problem! You've got lots to choose from.

Personally, I wouldn't go to NY. You'remaking good money and WL is an excellent town with great surrounding towns as well. Maybe keep in mind some of these towns including WL are regional (I think???). Pascack Valley I think.

I live in Woodcliff lake now and I have to agree with joe, if you can afford bergen county, then definately! The state line is just a hop skip and jump away, but such a differnt feel to it. Schools don't even begin to compare and in the nearly 10 years I have lived here have never heard anyone rave about any place in rockland. I even know a dozen peopel who grew up in rockland county and all live here and never contemplated moving to rockland when they had the choice. I even know a couple of people who live in rockland and send their kids to catholic schools in bergen...if that doesn't say enough.
The downfall to northern bergen coutny towns is that with wealth comes snobbier people with attitude. If you don'thave a bundle of disposible income to enter the community with , you may feel overwhelmed. But in each town, there is a place for everyone. All the towns have good schools. Great amenities in this whole area, cute towns and lots to do for kids and parents alike. but you do need money to enjoy it all. good luck to you.

I agree Pasack Valley is one of the best, look in Rivervale, Hillsdale, Bergen County right near your job.
