Curious if there's any democratic controlled inner cities that are better off today than 20-30 years ago?

Pretty much meaning, less poverty, less crime, more jobs, a higher median salary, etc.

Jersey City and Hoboken are 2 cities that come to mind.

I would be hard pressed to think of an "inner city" in NJ that is not democratically controlled.

Cause and effect or coincidence?

Newark, nj has been under Dem control since the 40s with one independant tossed in.

Newark is averaging more than a muder a month since the 60s.

Convicted mayor Hugh Addonizio was quoted as saying..."there is no money in Washington. In Newark you can make a million bucks"

"Engineering and Construction: The underworld grab for control"

Look up Paul Rigo, "Tony Boy Boiardo, who informed how business was conducted in newark"

Anyone watching the 100 million $$$ donated to newark schools by Zuckerberg? follow that cash to create an angiogram diplaying the circulation of that cash among the dominant leaders that pretend to protect the people of newark.

Bur hey, that's just Newak, can't speak to the other Dem controlled cities throughout the country.

Republican controlled states steal a lot of NJs tax money for their poor white trash that we could be using to fix our cities. It's a damn shame they're so greedy down south.

It's not just the deep south.

In fact, the so-called Red States (in various areas of the country) suck up huge amounts of Federal monies for the masses of impoverished folks who live there. While the people in those states say that they want to cut Federal expenditures, and their elected representatives echo that position, the reality of the situation is that those states would suffer the most if entitlement programs were cut or eliminated.

I understand you lean left in your views, have little regard for anyone in the GOP and can't stand Christie.

Fair enough.

But you didn't answer the question.

And yes, I know the OP is baiting you from the right and apparently caught you, since your first post was not to disprove that theory, but to point at the "other guys" and how bad they are.

This will soon enough evolve into yet another hyper-partisan flame war with the usual wild tangents and accusations lobbed by both sides.

Oh goody...

i think its absolutely disgusting that people use this data. i dont mind the concept, but the money used to calculate this ratio is so wrong that using this garbage is just lying.

if they want to make it useful; they should deduct stuff like social security, medicare, military spending, government jobs for whatever, etc. etc. the number still may look bad for red states vs blue but at least it wouldnt be total bs.
