Hi guys, I am considering buying a house in Rutherford and noticed it's directly under the flight path of TED route 24. Lots of planes going by during day time and feels kinda noisy but not unacceptable level. However I haven't got chance to try it during night time so I am wondering if anyone else would know. Any help/personal experience/opinion is wanted. I never lived in flight path before.

Ah it sucks. I don't understand who is flying a louder than lawnmower single engine airplane at 3am, but by golly, apparently they do. On the other hand, when I lived in Ramsey I heard the same stuff at 3am so you can't win I guess.

Honestly I lived in East Rutherford for over a year and never noticed anything. Neither did my wife or newborn baby.

There's a website where you can see air traffic on a 15 minute delay. I'll find the link later, but this way you can see what the activity is and also the types of aircraft and altitudes they are flying at.

I lived in an apartment close to route 17 in Rutherford for 2 years. Yes, you do hear the planes coming in and it's loud and often. Sunday evenings were the worst. Many people traveling home from long weekends, I'd bet.

The rest of the town is fine but if you are near route 17 in Rutherford, you are directly under the flight path for Teterboro.

If noise is a concern for you, then I would be wary about buying there.

Like I said I lived in Liberty Terrace. Practically right on rt. 17. I heard nothing and that place does not have a great build quality( I could hear neighbors more than I could here any plane noise, except maybe when I had my balcony door open). Best advice is to see for yourself, hang out in the pace for an hour to check the noise. I seriously doubt you will find it to be a deal breaker.
