It has always been a tradition of mine to go see a performance of Handel's Messiah sometime during the Holiday Season. I'm not at all a religious person, but just love hearing that oratorio performed live. It's the kind of holiday spirit boost that, if missed, would leave me with the feeling that it isn't really the holidays or that something is amiss.
Anyway, I've done a bit of searching and have come up with performances at NJPAC, Carnegie Hall, and a community theater in Morristown. All of them are on the weekend of Dec 22-23, which is when I'll be traveling away for the holiday
The State Theater in New Brunswick (where I have seen it in the past) will not be hosting a performance this year.
I know many churches and smaller community ensembles perform this work every year as well. Does anyone know of any ensembles or venues in Northeastern NJ (Hudson, Bergen, Essex, Union) that might be performing the Messiah this year?
