any other details.
1. High School is shared with Hackensack which isn't bad if you don't mind exposing your kids to economic and ethnic diversity
2. Any Paramus area town you are going to have to contend with mall traffic (GSP, Bergen Towne Center, Paramus Park) which is pretty much insane January - November M-F and forget about December!

I would add ANY Saturday to the insane traffic. We recently moved away from Bergen County, and especially lately, when I have returned, no matter what time/day, there's heavy traffic around that particular area (except for Sundays). I can feel my blood pressure rising as I near the traffic.
I agree that if you want to be exposed to diversity, Maywood may be a decent town. I've always liked some homes there.

Thanks for your info.
Is the traffic is near to that big Paramas mall. I don't know the name of the mall

You're referring to Garden State Mall. But off of Rt4 you also have Bergen Outlet mall (Whole Foods, Target, etc) and Riverside Mall and tons of other big name box stores not to mention the main connection for folks going toward the GW/NYC... bottom line, it's a densely populated area.
All the malls in Paramus are completely over crowded. GSP has a lot of issues with um, how should I put it...um criminals from other towns doing illicit activity on a regular basis...
Maywood has some wonderful features
Easy to get to 4, 17 and 80
Maywood market and the fish store in town, with whole foods and some other great stores and the Bergen mall.
Nice mix of houses
Probably the biggest negative is the high school which is shared with Hackensack. It's one of the lowest ranked for any of the surrounding towns.
Traffic is no worse than any of the surrounding towns.
Maywood is a nice little town in the center of Bergen County between the popular destinations of Paramus and Hackensack. A lot of the homes are older in age and the lots are smaller in size than the surrounding communities (excluding Hackensack). One nice feature of Maywood that comes to mind is West Pleasant Ave, an area lined with shops, restaurants and even a grocery store (Maywood Marketplace). I would recommend buying a house walking distance to that area.
From what I gather Maywood also seems quite community oriented with various events held throughout the year. It was also voted second best town for senior citizens to live in for New Jersey.
a Common misconception about hackensack high school - Actually named as one of the great high school in NJ last year and has a ton of electives for kids to choose from
