Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone in New Jersey lives in one of these tiny houses.

Tumbleweed Tiny House Company - Welcome to our website !

I would love to live in a house like that, but the first question that comes to my mind is "Where would I put it?"

Sorry, I don't own one (yet!) but I have been intrigued by these tiny homes since I first discovered them a couple years ago.

There are two main types: the permanent stick-built kind and the RV type on wheels. Which are you considering?

If you build a traditional stick-built, a lot purchase makes sense.
If you go for the kind with wheels there are more options: buy or rent a lot with services (elec., water, etc.), park it in an RV park, or maybe borrow or even rent a friend's garage. You could even travel in it and park wherever seems appropriate.

What are your needs/purposes?

Thanks for your response. I'm thinking of it as a second home somewhere in southern New Jersey, and I would probably go with the RV type on wheels. Maybe renting a space in an RV park makes most sense...., but I have no idea how much that's going go cost for a year. Maybe it makes sense to buy a lot? Then I have no idea how to go by doing that either. That's why I was wondering if anyone in New Jersey has done it already.

I understand your point.

The general question of where to put it could be asked of anyone in any state.

Anyway, do your homework and look up the costs and procedures for buying and setting up services for a lot. While you are doing that you might be able to decide what you really need. Or go ahead and buy one then rent a lot in an RV park while you attend to buying/renting a lot for yourself.

You could also talk to a real estate attorney.

Good luck. And I'm jealous...

Hi, I'm also kind of in the same boat. Though, I looked up RV campsites and the prices are as pricey as some apartments anywhere from 1000.00/month to 2000.00+/month in some locations. If RV camps work for you, I'd say go for it. For me, it's way out of my price range. Right now I'm getting into contact with a Realtor to help us look for a lot where we could potentially set up for an RV. Good luck!
