Union has a growing Ukrainian, Polish and Russian population with stores and churches. My wife i Ukrainian and i am Polish and there is a lot of them moving in all the time. But i dont know about Clifton.
I live in Chicago now, but I grew up with the Ukrainian community in Passaic, NJ. There is a Ukrainian Catholic church on President street named St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, and it has a grade school, which I attended. It is a beautiful church, built in the late 60s and decorated to the 9s in the early 80s. About a block away on Hope Ave. is the Ukrainian Center, which was a gathering place for the local dance troops, volley ball teams and where the Ukrainian boys and girl scouts (Plast?) would gather. I think it probably still exhists?
I hope this helps! If anyone knows the current status of all the groups activity there, please chime in!
There is a similar community hear in Chicago in the Ukrainian Village.
