Thinking of Moving back to NJ
I was fortunate enough to live with my grandmother in Elmora Hills, Elizabeth for the first year of my sons life, while getting back on my own feet. I moved to Iowa in 2006 for the cost of living, and am nearly ready financially to get back to living somewhere I enjoy. I am considering NJ, and other cities...
Any advice on neighborhoods that meet my needs as a family, but are also safe/cultural/educated areas that are liberal enough to accept that I am at the moment not married? (I am living in Iowa now and feel very ostracized).
Your advice is appreciated!

You would need to give more info to get suggestions. What's your budget? buy or rent? What kind of job are you looking for? There are many unmarried moms here, so that shouldn't be an issue. Keep in mind the cost of living is much higher here.

What on earth does being educated have to do with being unmarried?
Only on city-data.

Thanks for the response. My budget would be tight - income would probably be around 60 - 70K. I am a supply chain analyst now and would look for a like job before I moved back. I remember the cost of living (ugh) - that's the only reason I left. I really loved NJ while I was there.

cyntmac: two seperate characteristics. One has nothing to do with the other in general terms, I am merely describing myself and looking for an environment that supports both attributes.

There are many areas that would work with your income, but I think you should narrow it down by trying to figure out what part of the state your job will be in. Once you know where you'll be working, you'll find a place to live. good luck!
