I have one original 50's bath left in my home. I was looking to do it myself (am handy), but just dont have the time anymore. We have called a few contractors, the well established, licensed insured kind. Not the generic white van, no company kind. Well, i was shocked at bids of $20K+ for a 36 sq ft bath.

Its a hall, guest bath. Previous owner just did a great master bath ensuite reno before we purchased. So after some consideration, I'm not looking to spend 20K+ on a bath I wont even be using for a house I may not even still be in, in 5 years.

So I am looking at the bath reglazing. I'll get a new toilet, new vanity, new paint, new fixtures, and new floor. Anyone have this done in Central Jersey? How is it holding up after the years? Any recommendations??

What hte hell?

At one point I looked into getting my tub reglazed which was $300-$500. For a small bath like that it can't be that much.

Tile will need grout removed and re-grouted, so unless you have something like Penny tiles, I still can't see that price. You might as well do it right and replace everything with high end stuff at that rate.

The GUT RENO bids were coming in at $20k+. I am looking at the Bathroom Glaze option now

We had our tub re-glazed about 15 years ago. It has held up beautifully. Bear in mind, it is the main bath regularly used by 1 kid and occasional guests. That 1 kid has lived in DC for the past 5 years, so it is used even less often now.

Don't even know if these guys are still in the business.
American Bath in Ewing, NJ.
