I'm not saying Newark pays these people. It's all funded by private money.

I guess what i'm hearing is that the police know who the bad guys are and have caught them multiple times however they just keep getting let go out of jail and are back on the street. Sounds pretty broken.

Its not just Newark , the justice system here is very broken. I have friends that are Essex County Sheriffs and Chief , i hear everything from there and you would be surprised at what goes on.

I am all for not over paying police officers, and i dont agree with certain captains and chiefs wages. The problem in NJ is that the cost of living is very expensive. In NJ, you gotta make at least 6k a month to survive with a family.

Some Newark police are incredibly lazy.

I've seen some of them soliciting hookers.
Some buy(or steal) drugs.

Incredibly corrupt.

Don't get your car stolen in Newark.
You would have to pay for the storage fees and towing. Insurance refused to,saying since it was a crime I shouldn't be charged anything.
I later found out that since that you aren't supposed to pay because its a crime, and the police had it towed away for fingerprints.

Who told you that?
Anyone think that NPD is processing recovered stolen cars, unless it was a carjacking or linked to a serious crime?

Have to agree with Jake, the NPD is certainly NOT dusting a stolen auto for prints, they're responding to murders and carjackings.

I am in favor of people living in the inner cities having access to guns to protect themselves from criminals, Newark and even Chicago has had some issues with crime. The people can't always wait for the police to come therefore having guns might help

For example, the poster I quoted mentions Chicago a place where many of its neighborhood have huge murder rates. One thing those neighborhoods all have in common are tons of guns. More guns (we don't know how many people in Newark own guns anyway) is not going to solve violence or gang problems. You have to address the root causes which this country never does

The problem is illegal guns and criminals are not being punished to the fullest. Justice system let's you slide , it's all about that bail money .
