The closest NJ Transit train is in Bound Brook. Bridgewater's station can be a short drive as well. I know nothing of NJ Transit bus routes, so can't speak for other NJ Transit services.
There are a few grocery stores near SBB. There is one in Somerset, one in Bound Brook and one in Middlesex.
