Thank you for including those vital steps in the ultra-efficient process of paying with cash.
Paying with cash--the process that is much time-efficient and more considerate of other customers, as compared to the inconsiderate people like me who use a credit card.
That works both ways. Had a guy in front of me the other day that used a card in an attempt to pay for a wawa coffee. The card was apparently maxed out or expired and he kept trying to swipe it. In an effort to move the line flow I paid his 1.25 for the coffee with my cash. Never had my cash expire or refused. Come on people a buck twenty five in cash won't kill ya.

Well, that wouldn't happen if you were in back of me.
I have a total credit limit on my cards of over $30k, but I never utilize more than 10% of my credit limit, and I pay all of the bills in full each month.
And, I DO make it a practice to use a charge card for virtually everything--including something as cheap as a cup of coffee. How else could I wind up with cash rebates of over $500 per year?
The guy in front of you was a deadbeat, and you shouldn't lump me--or other responsible people--into the same category as him.
The store has a legitimate reason for not taking credit under a certain amount. They have margins that need to be maintained and the rates charged by the credit card companies don't make sense on minimal purchases.
You are being inconsiderate to both the store owner and those waiting behind you in line if you charge something to your credit card that costs under $10.
Then, the store shouldn't take credit cards. It's against their user agreements. It's not inconsiderate at all. That's how credit cards are intended to be used.

Knock on wood, I've gotten counterfeit money more times then I can remember. That's why I pay for everything with credit cards and pay it off at the end of the month. Many many years ago, I had to accept a money order from a client to put into account. I was paid by a bank in counterfeit bills. Every thing point to the bank (Bank Of America if anyone cares) giving me the fake bills and the cops were like "Counterfeit is all about who has the bills last". The second best thing about counterfeiting is you don't get your money back.
